Fun Birthday Dance

I know it's been awhile since I last posted anything but here I am catching up.

A BIG Thank You to Shane & Tonya and the kids. You made Josh's birthday hilarious!

It all began with the birthday card. Not just any card, but a musical one. The front of the card has a picture of a plate of hot wings on it and it says "They gave their lives so that we might celebrate." You open it to reveal the words "Let us dance to their Memory!" Any guesses on the song...... Yep the chicken dance! Julia thinks it's the greatest song ever! So of course we had to show her the dance, complete with beak snapping, wing flapping, and tail wiggling. Here's a picture of the birthday boy and the girls doing the chicken dance! Enjoy, I did!

Is she 5 or 15??????

We got a good laugh, and a bit of a fright from Jillian this past week.
We were a host family for youth conference. Makes sense for it to be a group of young men staying over with us since Josh is the young men's president. The boys were great, they stayed up late playing uno, but they were really quiet, they were polite and having them stay was kind of fun. We were all happy, well except for Jillian.
Happy just doesn't cover it; absolutely giddy, is more like it. She was constantly asking, "When will the boys get here?" "Can I see the boys?" when she found out they wouldn't be arriving the first night until about 9:30, and NO she could't stay up to see them, well I think we ruined her evening. This was forgiven when she found they were staying a second night and would be around in the afternoon to get ready for the dance. Eyes twinkling, giggle erupting, feet bouncing she asks "Can I see them now?" If I had a nickle for every time I said "Jillian, will you leave the boys alone!........
HELP! Is she 5 or 15?
I think next year it will have to be the girls we host, despite the in house young men's president.

Yeah by the way, Thanks for the curse Mom.

How I spent my Birthday. Connecticut coast/ thames river. 50-55 degrees out, water temp 44-50. No, we were not the only nuts out on the water. I think we saw 3 other boats fishing.
Wish you were here Dave...That is my dad on the left, Guy Beacom in the back. My brother Adam took the pic. Yes I was the only one to catch a fish this day. This is really, really early season to get these Striped Bass. 28" for length. Just barely legal size. Very good eating. That ship (3rd pic) is docked at the Coast Guard Academy in New London, Ct . Last pic is of my wonderful kids, about to help me blow out candles on a strawberry rhubarb pie Janel made. Come visit and we will go fishing. (April-October) These fish can get up to 67 lbs. Mine is about 6-8 lbs. Oh, Our fish pic will be published tomorrow on a hillyerstackle.com web site. It will be the first posting for them for 2009. Lots of people will see it, and will be rushing to get there boats in the water this weekend. This shop has not seen striped bass this season yet.

Yeah Spring!!!

Finally, the snow is gone, and the mud has dried! Well mostly dried, until it rains. That saying about April showers must have been created by a New Englander.

But for today there is sunshine!

Here's just some cute pictures of Julia enjoying the nice weather, and working as the ammunition gatherer for Jonathan and Jillian's Nerf gun battle. She's such a happy carefree girl. She's glad to be outside and playing with her brother and sister, she doesn't even mind the work. I do have to say that Jonathan does make it fun for her.
Today was such a warm spring day!! I couldn't resist taking some fun pictures of the kids. Here's Jonathan and Jillian the Nerf Warriors!! They had a great time battling it out in the back yard, now that it's dried out and not a big mud field. Of course Julia was the ammunition gatherer (yep, bottom of the pecking order, she thought it was fun though).

Pine Wood Derby Time!!

It's pinewood derby time!!
Jonathan did a great job with his car. He placed first in the weblos and will be going on to the regional race on April 25th. This is his second year making it to the regional race. He worked hard on his car and Josh made sure it was faster than last year's car. (Since Josh had keys to the church they snuck over and gave it a test run the night before, yes at 8:45 when Jonathan should have been going to bed since he had school the next day.) Boys will be boys at times I guess.
